UYDS Guide to Downton’s Emmy Nominations

While we here at UYDS wish Baron Fellowes and the entire Downton Abbey team the very best of luck this Sunday, we think it’s unlikely that they’ll walk away with any of the major acting or series prizes, especially since they only won three technical awards last week. Their strong showing at last year’s Emmys was almost certainly due to entering as a miniseries versus a drama series—much as we love our Downton, there’s simply no way that it can go up against the heavyweights AMC, HBO, and Showtime have in the ring and win. We predict that Baron Julian goes home with the writing award, but we’d love to see our girl Mags pull an upset in the Supporting Actress category. She’s an old British Dame—they HAVE to give it to her, right?
Don’t forget to follow our snarky Emmys live tweet! We’ll start at 7 EST/4PST. Follow us @5maggiesmiths
